In this presentation, stress is shown to be useful for survival and can even protect us. With this view, stress is seen in a positive light. This is particularly applicable in modern life; with new emphasis on productivity, competition and success. A model of stress management will be presented to understand the experience of stress to be a strengthening process. The experience of stress can be evaluated through an individual’s cognitive coping mechanism. One can learn how to regulate stress and use it to their advantage to function in very stressful situations effectively.
